Monument de la France Renaissante

The Monument de la France Renaissante, which was created in 1930 and gifted by Denmark, is located in the middle section of the Pont Bir Hakeim bridge, at the tip of the Ile aux Cygnes. The striking bronze statue was originally meant to depict Joan of Arc, but it was thought to look too warrior like, and as a result, to avoid a diplomatic incident and its potential demolition, it was renamed. As a result, the erection of the statue was not agreed until 1956, with its inauguration in 1958. It weighs over 3 tons and is about 4.5 metres high. Its location also offers a great view of the Eiffel Tower.

The view towards the Jardin du Luxembourg in the 6th arrondissement from Montparnasse Tower in the 15th. While the Montparnasse Tower may divide public opinion, as the tallest building in Paris outside of the La Defence business district, its observation deck on the 56th floor, 200 metres high, provides one of the best views of Paris. The view covers a radius of 40km, and on a clear day you can even see aircraft taking off from Orly Airport (Paris' second airport). 

Parc Andre Citroen


Parc André Citroën is a 14 hectares public park located on the left bank of the river Seine in the 15th arrondissement. Built on the site of a former Citroën automobile manufacturing plant, the park is named after company founder André Citroën. When it opened in 1992, it was the largest park to open in Paris in more than a century.

Statue of Liberty, Ile aux Cygnes



A quarter size replica of the Statue of Liberty is located on the southern tip of the small artificial island, Ile aux Cygnes (Island of Swans), on the river Seine. It is 16 metres tall and faces west in the direction of its larger sibling in New York City. It was inaugurated on 4 July 1889 and was donated by the Parisian expatriate community in the US.
