Monument de la France Renaissante

The Monument de la France Renaissante, which was created in 1930 and gifted by Denmark, is located in the middle section of the Pont Bir Hakeim bridge, at the tip of the Ile aux Cygnes. The striking bronze statue was originally meant to depict Joan of Arc, but it was thought to look too warrior like, and as a result, to avoid a diplomatic incident and its potential demolition, it was renamed. As a result, the erection of the statue was not agreed until 1956, with its inauguration in 1958. It weighs over 3 tons and is about 4.5 metres high. Its location also offers a great view of the Eiffel Tower.
