A quarter size replica of the Statue of Liberty is located on the southern tip of the small artificial island, Ile aux Cygnes (Island of Swans), on the river Seine. It is 16 metres tall and faces west in the direction of its larger sibling in New York City. It was inaugurated on 4 July 1889 and was donated by the Parisian expatriate community in the US.
