Parc des Buttes Chaumont
La Geode
La Geode is a mirror-finished geodesic dome that holds an Omnimax theatre in Parc de la Villette at the Cite des Sciences et de l'Industrie in the 19th arrondissement.
Parc de La Villete
The Parc de la Villette is the third-largest park in Paris, 55.5 hectares (137 acres) in area, built on the site of the huge Parisian abattoirs. The park houses one of the largest concentrations of cultural venues in Paris, including the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie (City of Science and Industry, Europe's largest science museum), three major concert venues, and the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris. It also has 35 architectural folies, which are intended to act as architectural representations of deconstruction, and to provide organisation and direction to the park’s visitors.
Alleyways of the 19th arrondissement
The 19th arrondissement is a haven for those seeking a less touristy side to Paris. As you walk along its alleyways, you feel as though you have stumbled upon a secret Paris, and a space of tranquility amidst the city streets.
Parc des Buttes Chaumont
The Parc des Buttes Chaumont is a public park in north eastern Paris, in the 19th arrondissement. It is the fifth largest park in Paris, occupying 61 acres. It was opened in 1867, late in the regime of Napoleon III. The most famous feature of the park is the Temple de la Sibyl, seen in the photo above, inspired by the Temple of Vesta in Tivoli, Italy. The temple is perched at the top of a cliff fifty metres above the artificial lake.
